<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the presence of an object in an area in the proximity of electronic equipment such as an image forming apparatus, while detecting an object at a position separated from the electronic equipment, so as to precisely determine whether or not the detected object is an intruder.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1, when a time counted by a timer 80 indicates a predetermined time zone (YES in S1), determines whether or not a room is empty with a first detection unit 102 on the basis of the detection of an object by a first detection sensor 50A that detects an area separated from the image forming apparatus 1 as a target (S3 and S5). The image forming apparatus 1, in the above-described time zone, when the first detection sensor 50A temporarily falls into a state of not detecting an object (YES in S3) and then the first detection sensor 50A returns to a state of detecting an object (YES in S5), determines the presence of an intruder (S7) with a second detection unit 103.</p> |
