<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate in a tire a self-inflating feature that self-inflates the tire.SOLUTION: A green pneumatic tire comprises: a tire cavity 40; first and second sidewalls 30, 32 extending respectively from first and second tire bead regions 34, 36 to a tire tread region 38; and a cable 52 embedded into the green tire for creation of an air passageway 43 in a tire 10 after curing the green tire in a tire mold. The air passageway 43 in the cured tire 10 is enclosed by a cured rubber material. A portion of the air passageway 43 near a tire footprint at least substantially closes when the cured tire 10 is mounted on a vehicle, inflated and rolling under a load in accordance with the tire specification. The cable 52 comprises a core 50 of a first material and a shell 51 of a second material.</p> |
