<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matrix converter capable of continuing a power conversion operation even when an AC power supply has its voltage dropped.SOLUTION: The matrix converter according to an embodiment comprises a plurality of bidirectional switches and a control unit. The plurality of bidirectional switches connect each phase of an AC power supply and each phase of a rotary electric machine. The control unit performs power conversion control between the AC power supply and the rotary electric machine by individually controlling a plurality of unidirectional switching elements constituting the plurality of bidirectional switches. Also, the control unit exerts switching control so as to expedite timing with which the plurality of unidirectional switching elements constituting the plurality of bidirectional switches are turned on than in the case of 120° energization control, and to extend a period in which the unidirectional switching elements are turned on than in the case of 120° energization control.</p> |
