Provided are a splicing-tape feed device and feed method whereby splicing tapes attached to a protective tape can be accurately positioned at a splicing position regardless of error, for example, in the positions of said splicing tapes. This splicing-tape feed device is provided with the following: a plurality of splicing tapes (30) that connect first and second carrier tapes (T1, T2) and are attached at intervals to a continuous protective tape (31) fed in a direction that, at a splicing position (LS), is perpendicular to the direction in which the first and second carrier tapes are fed; a protective-tape feed device (36) that feeds the protective tape; a tape-detecting sensor (48) that detects the splicing tapes immediately before the splicing position; and a control device (59) that controls the protective-tape feed device so as to position a splicing tape at the splicing position by feeding the protective tape N times, a unit distance each, from the point at which the tape-detecting sensor detects that splicing tape until the tape-detecting sensor detects the next splicing tape and then feeding the protective tape a fixed distance from the point at which the tape-detecting sensor detected the next splicing tape. |
