A portable telephone (10) is provided with a display unit (101), a communication unit (103) for communicating with a mail server, a storage unit (104) for storing address book data (104a), and a control unit (105) for displaying in the display unit (101) a screen for inquiring whether to change a mail filtering setting in the mail server when the address book data (104a) are compiled. The control unit (105) may be configured to perform mail filtering on the basis of the address book data (104a) irrespective of the mail filtering setting in the mail server.
