<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer latex excellent in binding strength.SOLUTION: A copolymer latex can be obtained by performing two or more multistage polymerization of 100 pts.wt. of a monomer comprising an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer (a), an unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester monomer (b) and a monomer (c) polymerizable with the aliphatic conjugated diene monomer and the unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester monomer, while the final stage of the multistage polymerization can be obtained by performing polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising 0-5 pts.wt. of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer (a) and/or an acrylic acid alkyl ester (b-1) and 10-50 pts.wt. of a monomer (c2) copolymerizable with the aliphatic conjugated diene monomer and/or the acrylic acid alkyl ester. An aqueous binder for a battery electrode contains the copolymer latex having a gel content of 94 wt.% or less.</p> |
