As system and method for streaming media content to a remote device and transcoding the media content for display on the client device is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a system receives a user command specifying a different playing mode of the device, and the media content is transcoded into a second format for display on the media device. One of the modes may comprise fast forwarding and reverse operations. The device may be checked for credentials for digital rights to download or view the content, and the content may be encrypted. |
