The method involves controlling application of wash water by a control- and/or regulation unit (20). The application of the wash water is carried-out in a clocked manner with respect to a washing cycle parameter that is adjusted depending on vehicle specification information, where the vehicle specification information comprises velocity, passenger compartment opening state, rain sensing information, pane contamination information and ambient temperature. An independent claim is also included for a wiping device for applying wash liquid to a vehicle pane.
