PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of highly accurately detecting an effective image area.SOLUTION: A display device is a display device which compares the value of input image date with a threshold, to detect the effective image area of the input image data and includes setting means for setting a period shorter than a horizontal scan period of the input image data as a horizontal detection period being the detection period of the horizontal range of the effective image area, within the horizontal scan period and detection means for comparing the value of the input image data within the horizontal detection period set by the setting means with the threshold, to detect the horizontal range of the effective image area. |
