PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function addition device and communication system that have a high degree of freedom in arrangement and a high workability, and can easily add a function different from a function included in a reader for reading unique information of a non-contact type IC card.SOLUTION: The function addition device can perform short-range radio communication with a reader for reading information unique to a non-contact type IC card from the IC card by the short-range radio communication, and adds a function different from the function included in the reader. The function addition device includes a control section for performing a control of transmitting/receiving, to/from the reader, the information for achieving the different function by inter-apparatus communication with the reader, and is fixed and arranged in a region allowing the short-range radio communication with the reader. |
