PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily release physical resources made unnecessary for a virtualized logical volume.SOLUTION: A storage device 1 executes copy processing of causing a copy destination logical volume 7 to refer to an allocation destination managed by a management unit area of a copy source logical volume 6, instead of copy processing accompanying allocation of a physical resource 5 to the copy destination logical volume 7. A storage unit 3 stores therein management information about reference information relating to reference destinations of management unit areas of logical volumes. A control unit 4 exchanges the reference destination of a management unit area designated by release instruction from a host 2 and the reference destination of a management unit area of the other logical volume, which corresponds to the designated management unit area, to release the physical resource 5 allocated to the management unit area. The control unit 4 updates management information 8a and management information 8c into management information 8b and management information 8d respectively to exchange the management unit areas. |
