<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a coupling agent for alkali battery positive electrodes which is excellent from the viewpoint of keeping long-term discharge characteristics (a discharge amount and a discharge time); and an alkali battery arranged by use thereof.SOLUTION: A coupling agent(B) for alkali battery positive electrodes comprises: polymer(A) including, as essential constitutional units, a water-soluble vinyl monomer(a1) and/or a vinyl monomer(a2) which makes the water-soluble vinyl monomer(a1) as a result of hydrolysis thereof. The coupling agent satisfies the following requirements (1) and (2). Requirement (1): the coupling agent(B) includes 50-95 wt.% of water-soluble components to the weight of the coupling agent(B). Requirement (2): a compound(C) prepared by stirring and mixing 98 pts.wt. of 40-wt.% potassium hydroxide aqueous solution, and 2 pts.wt. of the coupling agent(B), and then leaving the resultant mixture at 40°C for 24 hours has a viscosity of 5-50 Pa s(25°C)(V24).</p> |
