The device (50) has determining unit (51) for determining whether a change in a processing condition for the welding tong (40) occurs in an automated production line (1). A wear detecting unit (52) detects wear of welding tong on the basis of tong short-circuit measurement which is performed when determining occurrence of change in the processing condition. An adjustment unit (53) adjusts a time period between two cleaning operations for cleaning the electrode caps of welding tongs, based on short-circuit measurement result. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) automated production line for manufacture of vehicle chassis with welding tong; and (2) method for determination of wear of welding tong.
