The gear assembly has an output shaft provided with a toothed wheel and is driven by a hinge system according to the type of a linkage. The hinge system has a coupling element provided with a toothed segment (6). The coupling element is movably mounted and axially guided at another coupling element. The latter coupling element consists of two fastening elements (11a,11b) spaced from each other. The fastening elements have recesses (14a,14b) projecting into the interspace. The recesses serve as storage position for the former coupling element.
