PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow detachable attachment, from an apparatus body, of an image forming unit detachably attached to the apparatus body without performing opening/closing operation of an external cover so as to improve operability of the image forming unit.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes an imaging unit that includes an image carrier 1 and forms toner images on the image carrier, a transfer unit N that transfers the toner image on the image carrier to a recording medium P, a fixing unit 13 that fixes the toner image on the recording medium to the recording medium, and a discharge unit 14 that discharges the recording medium after the fixing of the toner image. The image forming apparatus 100 further includes an image forming unit 16 detachably attached to an image forming apparatus body 101; and the image forming unit has an external surface 16a that forms a part of an external surface 100a of the image forming apparatus when attached to the image forming apparatus body. |
