PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid vehicle steering device capable of assisting a steering force of a driver not depending on whether or not an engine is driven, and to provide a control method thereof.SOLUTION: A hybrid vehicle steering device comprises: a detector for detecting a vehicle speed, a steering angle and an engine RPM; a power steering pump 10 which is controlled by the engine RPM and supplies power to steer steering wheels; an electric motor unit which is attached to a steering column portion 19 independently from the power steering pump 10 and supplies power to steer the steering wheels; and a hybrid control unit (HCU) which receives a signal from the detector, and controls the power steering pump 10 and the electric motor unit. The hybrid vehicle steering device can assist a steering force of a driver not depending on whether or not an engine is driven.
