Disclosed are an adapter for an ink tank and an ink cartridge comprising the adapter. The adapter (2) for an ink tank comprises a main body (4) capable of accommodating an ink tank (3), and the main body is provided with a limiting component (11) disenabling identification of whether the ink cartridge is normally installed when the ink tank is firstly installed into the adapter and then into a printer. When a user installs an ink tank firstly into the adapter and then into the printer, the printer is unable to identify whether the ink cartridge has been normally installed, thereby preventing the user from firstly assembling the adapter and the ink tank and then installing same into the printer. The technical problem of an existing adapter for an ink tank and an existing ink cartridge comprising the adapter being unable to prevent a user from firstly installing an ink tank into the adapter and then into the printer is solved, which otherwise results in an incorrect judgement of ink cartridge type.
