<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus for efficiently recording monitored data as evidence for an unauthorized conduct, and to provide a control method for the information processing apparatus and a program. <P>SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus includes a monitoring data acquiring section 81 for acquiring monitoring data which are the monitoring result of an in-store monitoring camera 10, which images the peripheral situations of a register counter; a main storage section 85 for storing at least a portion of monitoring data, in a non-volatile manner; an exceptional processing generation detecting section 72 for detecting that an exceptional processing of accounting processing has occurred in a POS 1 (point of sales) terminal provided in the register counter; and a recording control section 83 for controlling the recording of the monitoring data into the main storage section 85.
