<p>The box (18) has a mechanical coding unit arranged at a housing. The coding unit includes a pin, which is adjusted between two positions. A receiving area receives a stack of valuable documents. The pin is designed such that the box is guided to receiving compartments (16) of an automated teller machine (ATM) when the pin is arranged in the respective positions. The coding unit selectively allocates the box to one of the receiving compartments. An opening is provided in the housing. Stoppers (80) are connected with walls of the compartments by a plastic cable. An independent claim is also included for a valuable document handling device.</p>
