Monitoring device for an internal combustion engine

The device has sensors (2, 3) i.e. filling level sensors, for detecting a parameter interrelated with resource e.g. storage capacity, of a particulate filter (9) and storage at ammonia container. A microprocessor system (1) estimates actual quantity of the resource based on the detected parameter. The system calculates and outputs remaining operation capacity of an internal combustion engine i.e. diesel engine (8), where the operation capacity remains before exhaustion of the resource. The system estimates particulate supply to the filter based on the parameter.
