The present invention provides an electronic device and a method for controlling the same which can allow a user to rapidly preheat a vacuum tube during an initial operation of an electronic device. The electronic device comprises an amplification unit which includes a vacuum tube to amplify an audio signal; a voltage supply unit which supplies one of a first voltage and a second voltage higher than the first voltage to a heater included in the vacuum tube; and a control unit which controls the voltage supply unit to supply the second voltage to the heater when the supply of driving power to the amplification unit starts and to supply the first voltage to the heater when the vacuum tube reaches a preset temperature. According to the electronic device of the present invention, a user can use a vacuum tube amplifier as soon as possible by rapidly preheating the vacuum tube during the initial operation of the electronic device.
