<p>A paper item identification device that identifies a paper item on the basis of an optical characteristic of said paper item is configured from: at least one light source that shines light toward the paper item; a light guide body that receives light shone from the light source as reflected light that has been reflected by multiple areas of the paper item, or as penetrating light that has penetrated multiple areas of the paper item, and emits condensed light from an emitting section; an optical process section that forms a spectrum distribution from the light emitted from the emitting section by the light guide body; and an identification process section that identifies the paper item on the basis of a characteristic of the spectrum distribution formed by the optical process section.</p> |
