A shaft 8 is mounted in a bearing comprising a plurality of bearing elements 5 of segmental shape each of which is provided with a cylindrical recess 7 containing a circular row of balls 3 supporting a large ball 1 which engages the shaft 8. The longitudinal axis of each recess 7 is inclined at an angle, preferably 30 degrees, to a transverse plane of the shaft to eliminate slipping between the balls 1 and 3. The balls 1 are retained by rim members 9. The segments 5 are surrounded by a ring 6 and tapped holes 10 facilitate the removal of the segments. |
