The present invention relates to a display device which can form even cell gaps and alignment layers and a manufacturing method thereof. The display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a substrate including multiple pixel areas; a thin-film transistor formed on the substrate; a pixel electrode which is connected to the thin-film transistor and is formed in the pixel areas; and a roof layer which is formed on and spaced apart from the pixel electrode. The pixel areas are arranged to form a matrix including multiple pixel rows and columns. The roof layer is formed along the multiple pixel rows. The roof layers include a leg unit connected the roof layers in different pixel rows.
