<p>A ferro-magnetic non-ferrous alloy, in which the ferro-magnetic phase has a crystal structure with face-centered cubic symmetry with manganese and substitutional metal occupying cube-corner and face-centre positions and carbon the body-centre positions, consists of Mn at least 60 per cent by weight of the alloy, C not less than 2.0 per cent, preferably 2.0-5.5 per cent, and one or more of the elements Al, In, Sn and Zn not less than 0.4 per cent in total. Preferably the substitutional metal is Al 0.4-15.5 per cent or Zn 0.5-24.7 per cent or In 1.0-10.7 per cent or Sn 1.0-34.5 per cent.</p> |
