773,100. Eccentrics. ETABLISSEMENTS GRIMAR. May 9, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1954], No. 13346/55. Class 122 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] In a variable-throw crank mechanism, particularly for presses, of the type wherein the connecting-rod B embraces an eccentricallybored sleeve 2 which is rotatably adjustable on an eccentric boss la of a driving-shaft 1, the sleeve 2 is locked to the boss la by teeth 3, which are disengaged by sliding the sleeve 2 axially, the sleeve 2 being coupled to a sleeve 12 extending through one of the shaft bearings P1 and actuated at its outer end so that the eccentric sleeve 2 may be axially disengaged, rotatably adjusted and subsequently re-engaged without having direct access thereto. The boss 1a is of " cylindro-conical " shape. A ring 5 attached to the sleeve 2 limits its axial movement to the left. The sleeves 2, 12 are rotatably coupled by a pin 9 engaging a slot in a plate 7 integral with the sleeve 12, the plate 7 being held between the sleeve 2 and a plate 10 attached thereto. The outer end of the sleeve 12 may be actuated by any means but as shown has an inturned shoulder held between a collar and a ring on a bush 13 which is threaded on the shaft 1 so that the sleeves 2, 12 are axially moved to disengage the teeth 3 by rotating the bush 13 by a key 17. The sleeve 2 is then rotatably adjusted by a key 20 inserted in a ring attached to the sleeve 12. A scale 21 on the ring indicates, against a fixed pointer 22, the selected length of stroke. Stops may be provided to hold the connecting-rod B in place during axial movement of the sleeve 2. In a modification dispensing with the teeth 3 the end faces of the sleeve 2 and boss 1a have corresponding radial slots which are coupled by projections extending from a plate on the sleeve 12, the slots in the sleeve 2 being deeper than those in the boss la so that the sleeve 12 may be axially disengaged from the boss 1a and then turned to rotatably adjust the sleeve 2. |
