A protected cathode, a lithium air battery including the same, and a method for manufacturing a lithium ion conductive protective layer are provided. The protected cathode as a protective layer for a cathode, capable of storing and emitting lithium ions includes a doped ceramic compound so as to improve ion conductivity and suppress a side reaction of the cathode. By using the protected cathode, the lithium air battery with enhanced conductivity and charge and discharge characteristics can be manufactured.
