摘要 A circuit and a method for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to prevent a black screen and a stripe phenomenon on a screen due to a gate start pulse by performing a masking process of an abnormal gate start pulse. Digital video data inputted from the outside is sampled and rearranged. The sampled and rearranged data is supplied to a data driving unit(23). A gate signal for controlling a gate driver(22) and a data signal for controlling a data driver are generated. A timing controller(21) performs the masking process of a gate start pulse when the number of the gate start pulse exceeds the reference value by comparing the number of the gate start pulse with the reference value. The gate driver generates the gate pulse based on a gate signal inputted from the timing controller and successively supplies the gate pulse to each gate line of a liquid crystal panel(24). The data driver converts the digital video data into an analog pixel signal corresponding to the gradation value based on the data signal inputted from the timing controller and supplies the converted signal to each data line. The liquid crystal panel includes a plurality of liquid crystal cells in a region where the data line and the gate line cross. The plurality of liquid crystal cells are driven by the gate pulse and a pixel signal.
