<p>Disclosed is a method of deploying a rigid-stem assembly 100 into a body of water 15 for a marine survey. The rigid-stem assembly comprises a plurality of rigid stems 105 that are interconnected and each stem comprises a stem body defining one or more interior chambers. The rigid-stem assembly is towed from the survey vessel through the body of water. Either (1) a geophysical signal is detected with a sensor towed by the survey vessel, and/or (2) a geophysical source is activated that is towed by the survey vessel. Also disclosed is a rigid-stem handling system comprising a storage bin 190 for a plurality of rigid stems that are interconnected, a rigid-stem connection line 195 to receive from a storage bin the stored stems then connect them to form a rigid-stem assembly and a detensioning apparatus 200 to receive and hold the assembly during deployment.</p> |
