A process of laundering, especially of cotton goods, comprises a washing cycle in which an aqueous solution of soap is used and a plurality of rinsing steps in one of which, which is neither the first nor the last, a bleaching composition comprising calcium hypochlorite and from 2 to 10 per cent by weight of sodium tripolyphosphate is added, the soap concentration in this rinsing step being not more than 200 p.p.m. The dry bleaching composition may also comprise soda ash, sodium chloride, calcium oxide, sodium silicate, sodium bicarbonate, a synthetic organic detergent and carboxymethyl cellulose. Specification 1,787,048 is referred to.ALSO:A bleaching and detergent composition, comprises a synthetic organic detergent, calcium hypochlorite and sodium tripolyphosphate, with or without soda, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, calcium oxide, sodium silicate and carboxymethyl cellulose. |
