The waste gas fastness of cellulose acetate textiles dyed with aminoanthraquinone dyestuffs is improved by incorporating in the textile before, during or after dyeing, or in the spinning solution from which the fibres are spun, a colourless amino compound containing at least one amino group and at least one keto and/or etherified hydroxyl or thiol group and/or at least one hydroxyl group esterified with a monocarboxylic acid or with an organic mono-or di-isocyanate, the keto, ether and/or ester groups being linked in the beta- or gamma-position with the amino groups by an openchained saturated alkylene group, or the formaldehyde-bisulphite derivatives of the amino compound. Suitable beta- or gamma-hydroxy amines, the esters or ethers of which may be used, are those of the formul <FORM:0780764/IV (b)/1> in which m, n and x are 2 or 3, R is hydrogen or a cycloaliphatic, a lower alkyl or a cyanoalkyl radical and R1 is a lower alkyl radical, or when R and R1 are alkyl they may form with the nitrogen atom of the first formula a saturated heterocyclic ring. Suitable hydroxyamines are beta - diethyl - amino - ethanol or -propanol, gamma - dibutylaminopropanol, N - beta - hydroxyethyl - pyrrolidine or -piperidine, N-methyl-, N-ethyl-, N-cyclohexyl- or N-benzyl-di-(hydroxyethyl)-amine or N,N1-dihydroxyethyl-piperazine. Suitable esters of the hydroxylamines are those of benzoic, alkylbenzoic, phenylacetic, acetic, isobutyric, oleic, carbamic, cyclohexyl- and cyclohexenyl-carboxylic acids. Suitable ethers are the methyl, ethyl, hexyl, cyclohexyl, camphyl, camphyl-methyl, phenyl and benzyl ethers of mono-, di- and tri-ethanolamine, of N-methyl- or N-butyl-mono- or diethanolamine or of N,N-diethyl-ethanolamine, N - methyldiethanolamine - bis - (p - chlorophenoxymethyl) ether, N-benzyl-oxyethyl-morpholine, -pyrrolidine or -piperidine, N,N1-bis-(benzyl - oxyethyl) - piperazine, the benzyl ether of 1,3-bis-(diethylamino)-isopropanol-2 and the corresponding thioethers. Suitable ketones are N,N - dimethyl - (2 - benzoylethyl)-amine, 2 - (N,N - dimethylaminoethyl) - cyclohexanone, N,N-(bis-2-benzoylethyl)-methylamine, N - (2 - benzoylethyl) - pyrrolidine or -piperidine and N,N1 - bis - (2 - benzoylethyl) - piperazine. Suitable ethers are the methyl, ethyl, hexyl, cyclohexyl, camphyl, camphylmethyl, phenyl and benzyl ethers of mono-, di-and tri-ethanolamine, of N-methyl- or N-butyl-mono- or di-ethanolamine or of N,N-diethylethanolamine, N - methyldiethanolamine - bis - (p - chlorophenoxymethyl) ether, N - benzyl - oxyethylmorpholine, -pyrrolidine or -piperidine, N,N1 - bis - (benzyl - oxyethyl) - piperazine, the benzyl ether of 1,3-bis-(diethylamino)-isopropanol-2 and the corresponding thioethers. Suitable ketones are N,N-dimethyl-(2-benzoylethyl) - amine, 2 - (N,N - dimethylaminoethyl)-cyclohexanone, N,N - (bis - 2 - benzoylethyl)-methylamine, N - (2 - benzoylethyl) - pyrrolidine or -piperidine and N,N1-bis-(2-benzoylethyl) - piperazine. Numerous examples are given.
