PURPOSE: An apparatus for updating an application and a method thereof are provided to reduce resource waste according to download, and to support fast update, by updating applications by receiving one update module. CONSTITUTION: A list distribution part (142) generates a synchronization application list for applications using an identical module. When an update module is received from an application distribution server (100), an update module distribution part (144) extracts information of an application using the update module from the synchronization application list, and transmits information of the update module and the application to a terminal (160). The terminal updates a module of an application corresponding to the information of the application with the update module.
