A liquid crystal display device and driving method is provided to reduce power consumption by operating the liquid crystal panel by an interlace mode in case that the still image is continued over the reference frame and progressive mode in the other case. In a liquid crystal display, an input unit especially inputs data indicated on the liquid crystal panel by frame. An interlace data conversion part(114) converts data from the input unit into data for the interlace mode. A still image determining unit(112) determines whether the still image is over the reference frame or not based on inputted data. According to the result of the still image determining unit(116), a driving part selects one of data for interlace and data from input unit. |
