1. A computer based method of classifying information elements, such as media items, into categories, comprising steps where:
displaying information elements on a display to a plurality of users; users apply tags to said information elements by a computer, said tags being useful to a classifying module for classifying said information elements; transmitting said tags applied by different users to a central platform over a telecommunication network; classifying, by a classifying module in said central platform, said information elements based on said tags retrieved from the users, using a democratic process for deciding on the category or categories to associate with each information element when different tags have been applied to a same information element by different users, wherein the democratic process provides a decision based on input from the plurality of users; and translating, replacing or modifying names of categories, at said central platform, based on a centrally stored dictionary thesaurus. |
