A composition for a liquid crystal alignment layer, a liquid crystal alignment layer obtained from the composition, and an LCD device containing the liquid crystal alignment layer are provided to reduce the cutting of an alignment layer even in case of rubbing, to improve the uniformity of alignment and to enhance the contrast of an LCD device. A composition for a liquid crystal alignment layer comprises a polymer A comprising at least one selected from the group consisting of a polyester-polyamide acid (A1) comprising a repeating unit represented by the formula 1 and a repeating unit represented by the formula 2-1, and a polyester-polyimide (A2) comprising a repeating unit represented by the formula 3 and a repeating unit represented by the formula 2-1, wherein R11, R12, R21, R22, R31, R32 and R33 are independently a C2-C100 organic group; and a broken line represents a connection bond. |
