PURPOSE: An apparatus for expanding knowledge base and a method thereof are provided to expand subject classification directory in order to express concern of a user more effectively. CONSTITUTION: A related document collection part (100) generates a related document by collecting data related with individual category of a subject classification directory of the hierarchy structure. A verb extraction part (200) extracts and refines candidate verb from the related document. A correlation evaluation part (300) selects more than one verb with high correlation with the category among the candidate verbs which are extracted and refined. An expansion part (400) integrates the selected verbs to the subject classification directory data.
