发明名称 Improvements relating to automatic feeds for lathes and the like
摘要 783,151. Copy-turning; lathe-details. WARNER & SWASEY CO. Nov. 21, 1955 [Dec. 20, 1954], No. 33298/55. Class 83 (3). In a lathe &c. having work and tool-supporting members relatively movable in a first direction, means are provided which tend to produce relative movement in a second direction but which are prevented from acting by stops which are successively tripped to permit the second movement to be performed in steps. A base 23, Fig. 3, for attachment to a lathe-turret F, Fig. 1, carries a tool-slide 22 having a leadscrew 32 fixed thereto at 33 and carrying a cutter 20. A nut 28 engages the lead-screw and is rotatably-urged in the " out-feed " direction by a volute-spring 36 and one or more springs 41 acting directly on the slide. Collars 46, each having a peripheral step 49, Fig. 6A, are adjustably secured by set-screws to the nut, with the steps 49 in different axially-aligned positions so that each in turn may engage one of a series of pivoted dogs 51 to hold the nut against rotation. The dogs 51 are held in contact with collars 46 by spring-detents 65, but the one engaging a step 49 may be tripped by one of a set of stops 64, Fig. 1, adjustable on a grooved-bar 79, to allow the nut 28 to rotate until the next step is engaged by its dog, thus giving the tool an out-feed to an extent determined by the rotational spacing of the steps 49. As the turret F is traversed along the bed towards the headstock, the stops 64 act in succession to cause the tool to produce stepped work as shown in Fig. 1. The initial position of the tool-slide 22 is adjusted by rotating the leadscrew 32 in the slide at 33, by a wrench applied at 85, after releasing a clamping-screw. The tool is re-set, after an operative traverse, by rotating the nut 28 through a handle 84, the spring 36 being thereby wound-up as the tool is fed in. Centre-rests. The end of the work passes through an aperture 88, Figs. 2 and 3, in the base 23, and is supported, ahead of the cutter 20, by two rollers 91, each carried by an arm 93 having an arcuate portion 95 seating in a bore 96 in a bracket 97 secured to the base by screws 104. The portions 95 are clamped in bore 96 by conical collars and a central bolt 100, the thrust of the work being resisted by screws 101 adjusted against the arms 93.
