摘要 The present invention relates to a method of controlling an automatic transition of charge and discharge of an energy storage system for determining the battery capacity in a battery management system (BMS) provided inside an energy storage system (ESS) to maintain a desired level of battery capacity required by a user, and turning the charger off when the battery capacity satisfies the desired level required by the user by managing an operation of the charger in the BMS to remove energy wasted due to current consumption of a charger. The method includes: an S1 step for applying an alternating current (AC) voltage to a transfer switch (18) after turning on an inverter (16), which converts a direct current (DC) voltage to the AC voltage; an S3 step for determining if a battery capacity is set when a power source (5) is not turned off, after determining if the power source (5) is turned off in the S1 step; an S4 step for turning the charger (12) on and charging the battery when the battery capacity is set in the S3 step; and an S6 step for turning the charger (12) off when the battery is charged to a set capacity, after determining if the battery is charged to the set capacity in the S4 step.
