PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique allowing steering characteristics of a vehicle to be appropriately detected.SOLUTION: A transmission system backlash detecting portion 112 detects characteristics of a steering transmission system and detects amounts of backlash caused by deterioration in an elastic material. A stability factor detecting portion 114, on the basis of the backlash amounts detected by the transmission system backlash detecting portion 112, detects stability factor as steering characteristics of the vehicle. A behaviour controlling portion 120, on the basis of the detected steering characteristics, controls behaviour of the vehicle. The transmission system backlash detecting portion 112 when the vehicle is in a first turning state, performs a detection process, and the stability factor detecting portion 114 when the vehicle is in a second turning state, performs a detection process. |
