PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which corrects a gradation after a coefficient of separation processing of a character region or a pattern region is changed when the gradation of a binary image is corrected.SOLUTION: Image acquisition means of an image processing apparatus acquires a binary image and first separation means separates the binary image acquired by the image acquisition means into a character region or a pattern region. First correction means corrects a gradation of the binary image acquired by the image acquisition means on the basis of a processing result by the first separation means. Setting means sets a coefficient used for separation processing after the first correction means corrects the gradation. Second separation means separates the binary image acquired by the image acquisition means into the character region or the pattern region by using the coefficient which is set by the setting means. Second correction means corrects the gradation of the binary image acquired by the image acquisition means on the basis of a processing result by the second separation means.
