The twin winch provides by a motor and a reducer driving of two independent drums pulling two ropes (chains) for different applications without friction gear or other similar devices which allows for employment in ship and other cranes, windlasses etc. The twin winch decreases revolutions of the motor (1) by a modified planetary gear whereby one of the rope (chain) drums is fixed to one of the basic elements (5). Braking of one or the other drums respectively basic elements (3 or 5) is done by band, drum or other types of brakes(8 or 9).
