CLEANING SYSTEM FOR FILTER SAND LAYER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize cleaning equipment for a filter sand layer, compared with conventional systems including injection of water or sea water into a filter sand layer and thereby reduce the construction scale and running costs.SOLUTION: A cleaning system 1 is for removing suspended matter, as a cause of clogging, from a filter sand layer 2 of sea water percolation intake equipment 5 which takes in sea water percolated through the filter sand layer 2 and a support gravel layer 3 on the sea bottom by means of an intake pipe 4 embedded in the support gravel layer 3 and includes a diffuser pipe 7 embedded in the filter sand layer 2 and having an injection hole 6 and compressed air delivery means 8 of delivering air to the diffuser pipe 7. The filter sand in the filter sand layer 2 is agitated by injecting air from the injection hole 6, and suspended matter included in or precipitated on the filter sand layer 2 is removed.
