PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver precursor mainly containing silver oxalate and having reduced explosibility and improved handleability, and to provide its manufacturing method.SOLUTION: There is provided a silver precursor obtained by mixing a dispersion solvent containing at least one of water or non-halogen-based organic solvent with silver oxalate and mixing 10 to 200 pts.wt. of a dispersion solvent based on 100 pts.wt. of silver oxalate. The silver precursor can be manufactured by mixing a solution of a silver compound and oxalic acid to produce silver oxalate, separating silver oxalate by a solid liquid separation on a reaction liquid containing the produced silver oxalate, then adjusting a water content of the separated silver oxalate or contacting with a non-halogen-based organic solvent.
