PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for detecting occurrence of a congestion tail phenomenon and prevent error detection attributed to shadowing or the like.SOLUTION: A traffic congestion tail detection system comprises acquisition means for acquiring the intensity of reception signals, RSSI values from on-vehicle devices of a preceding vehicle at plural consecutive times every prescribed time by at least one roadside antenna device within a prescribed detection section for detecting congestion occurrence. The congestion tail detection system of the present invention also comprises calculation means for calculating an average speed of the preceding vehicle on the basis of variation of the RSSI values every prescribed time and determination means for determining congestion occurrence on the basis of the calculated average speed of the preceding vehicle. |
