PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand dryer used in a washroom, a toilet, or the like, in which hand detection means is not affected by external light, nor by stains, and more than one hand detection means do not need to be used, and in which power consumption during standby is small.SOLUTION: A hand dryer 1 includes: a hand drying chamber 2 provided in the upper part of a body; a nozzle part 3 provided in the upper entrance of the hand drying chamber 2; metal plates 4 in the inside on both front and rear sides of the hand drying chamber 2, spanning almost the right and left ends; hand detection means 5 electrically connected to the two metal plates 4 for performing capacitance detection; and a control part 7 for operating an electric blower 6 by a signal from the hand detection means 5. The metal plates 4 extend almost to the right and left ends so that a hand can be detected by the whole hand drying chamber, and due to the capacitance detection between the two metal plates 4 provided inside the body resin case, there is no influence of external light or stains, and power consumption can be reduced. |
