PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a degree of oscillation degradation of a high frequency assist element at an early stage to prevent progress of destruction and failure occurrence such as head crash of the high frequency assist element before they occur.SOLUTION: A disk storage unit comprises a magnetic head, a detection unit and a determination unit. The magnetic head is arranged in the vicinity of a main magnetic pole generating a recording magnetic field for performing vertical magnetic recording, and has a high frequency assist element for applying high frequency magnetic field onto a magnetic disk in recording data. The detection unit detects electric resistance of the high frequency assist element and creates a temporal axis data indicating variations of an electric resistance value on the temporal axis. The determination unit determines malfunction of the high frequency assist element on the basis of the temporal axis data. |
