<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for removing particles from ink in an ink channel.SOLUTION: A particle separator 400 includes an alignment region for aligning nonspherical particles 410 along their longitudinal dimension in an ink channel 491. A guide region is arranged to direct the nonspherical particles to be closer to a first streamline region of the ink channel and to be away from a second streamline region of the ink channel. While an ink jet printer operates, particle-rich ink flows in the first streamline region and particle-free ink flows in the second streamline region. A division region arranged downstream of the guide region divides the ink channel into first and second channel branches 431 and 432. The first channel branch 431 is arranged to carry the particle-rich ink whereas the second channel branch 432 is arranged to carry the particle-free ink.</p> |
