PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for vulcanization of a pneumatic tire which can prevent effectively vulcanization faults occurring in the periphery of wear indication holes formed in a tread part.SOLUTION: A vulcanization apparatus comprises a pair of molds 1 and 2 for molding an outside surface of a tire, a bladder 11 arranged inside the tire, molding pins 31 for molding wear indication holes in a tread part of the tire, pin housing holes 32 opened to the inside surfaces of the molds 1 and 2, and a drive unit 33 causing the molding pins 31 to advance and retreat in the extention direction of the pin housing holes 32. The vulcanization method uses the vulcanization apparatus and comprises arranging a green tire t around the bladder 11, with the molding pins 31 housed in the pin housing holes 32, expanding the bladder 11 so as to expand the green tire t to a size smaller than the mold size, adhering the green tire t tightly to the inside surfaces of the molds 1 and 2 by expanding the bladder 11 further and, after the adhesion step, protruding the molding pins 31 from the inside surfaces of the molds 1 and 2 to be embedded in the tread part of the green tire t and vulcanizing the green tire t. |
