PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which suppresses deterioration of a throughput while maintaining cleaning performance.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes two modes; a multicolor mode for printing using a plurality of color developers; and a monochrome mode for printing using only one color developer. Control means, after the printing in the multicolor mode, supplies a first amount of developer to removal means when the accumulation supply amount which is an accumulation amount of developer supplied to the removal means is equal to or more than a reference supply amount determined according to a usage amount of the removal means and supplies a second amount of developer more than the first amount to the removal means when the accumulation supply amount is less than the reference supply amount, and after the printing in the monochrome mode, supplies a third amount of developer less than the first amount to the removal means, and when having supplied the third amount, makes the interval between a present recording material and a next recording material shorter than an interval when the amount equal to or more than the first amount is supplied. The first amount is an amount of developer to be supplied to the removal means with respect to the increase of the usage amount of the removal means caused by printing on recording materials. |
