PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader having a cleaning member which achieves removal capability for floating foreign matter and adhesive foreign matter and can efficiently remove the floating foreign matter and the adhesive foreign matter and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image reader 1 includes: slit glass 13 for allowing a document D to pass through; an image reading section 10 which reads an image of the passing document D via the slit glass 13; and a cleaning rotary body 46 which rotates and cleans a document passing face of the slit glass 13. The cleaning rotary body 46 includes a rotor body section 46a which can rotate in a non-contact state to the document passing face; a first cleaning member 46f which is supported by the rotor section 46a and is in slidable contact with foreign matter on the document passing face to scrape the foreign matter on a downstream side in a rotary direction; and a second cleaning member 46c which is in slidable contact with the foreign matter on the document passing face to scrape it. |
